SMART GOALS - Meaning And Details

At the beginning of each year, many people put up goals to achieve them during the year, some of which may be achieved, and some remain on paper!

And some find out that he has achieved a few from each goal!
In the end, all these possibilities afflict by frustration or depression, and in some cases, people may decide not to write a new year's goals.
let me tell you something If you were someone who went through the same experience, or if you asked yourself one day: Why can't I achieve any goal?

The problem is not in your goals, the problem is the way that's you put your goals in!

Every year, very few people set goals, and the rest don't even think about what they are going to do or what they want to achieve.
If you just set goals, meaning that's you want to succeed and you don't want to waste time
In this article, we will talk about goals and what is the best way to define them

you'll get after finishing this article:
  • What is the 2 meaning of SMART goals!
  • How can we know if our goal is smart or not?
  • How can you put SMART goals and when can be used?
First of all, we need to know What is the SMART goals?
There is a difference between the goal and the SMART one.
Not all the goals can be called SMART, there are goals we put randomly without considering anything
for example: learn Chinese.
And there are the SMART goals that are we use to make our goals easy to achieve and succeed but before we go deep into we need to answer our question.

What are the SMART goals?
SMART is an acronym that you can use to guide your goal setting.
Its criteria are commonly attributed to Peter Drucker's Management by Objectives concept. The first known use of the term occurs in the November 1981 issue of Management Review by George T. Doran. Since then, Professor Robert S. Rubin (Saint Louis University) wrote about SMART in an article for The Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He stated that SMART has come to mean different things to different people.
So SMART goals is a term we called it the goals that are we put after we considering 5 things, if one of these 5 things missing, the goal will be not smart.
SMART goals are clear with meaning " smart " but also the word " SMART " has another meaning
which is:
S: Specific (Simple, Sensible, Significant).
M: Measurable (Meaningful, Motivating).
A: Achievable (Agreed, Attainable).
R: Relevant (Reasonable, Realistic and Resourced, Results-Based).
T: Time-Bound (Time-Based, Time limited, Time/cost limited, Timely, Time-Sensitive).

How can you put SMART goals and when can be used?
As we mentioned before to make the goals SMART we need to consider the things above " more details in below ", and it's important to mention that's the goals need to be rationality, which means you have to Put possible goals and you able to achieve.

1. Specific:
Your goal should be clear and specific, otherwise, you won't be able to focus your efforts or feel truly motivated to achieve it. When drafting your goal, try to answer the five "W" questions:
  • What do I want to accomplish?
  • Why is this goal important?
  • Who is involved?
  • Where is it located?
  • Which resources or limits are involved?

2. Measurable:
It's important to have measurable goals so that you can track your progress and stay motivated. Assessing progress helps you to stay focused, meet your deadlines, and feel the excitement of getting closer to achieving your goal.
A measurable goal should address questions such as:
  • How much?
  • How many?
  • How will I know when it is accomplished?

3. Achievable

Your goal also needs to be realistic and attainable to be successful. In other words, it should stretch your abilities but remain possible. When you set an achievable goal, you may be able to identify previously overlooked opportunities or resources that can bring you closer to it.
An achievable goal will usually answer questions such as:
  • How can I accomplish this goal?
  • How realistic is the goal, based on other constraints, such as financial factors?

4. Relevant

This step is about ensuring that your goal matters to you and that it also aligns with other relevant goals. We all need support and assistance in achieving our goals, but it's important to retain control over them. So, make sure that your plans drive everyone forward, but that you're still responsible for achieving your own goal.
A relevant goal can answer "yes" to these questions:
  • Does this seem worthwhile?
  • Is this the right time?
  • Does this match our other efforts/needs?
  • Am I the right person to reach this goal?
  • Is it applicable in the current socio-economic environment?

5. Time-bound

Every goal needs a target date so that you have a deadline to focus on and something to work toward. This part of the SMART goal criteria helps to prevent everyday tasks from taking priority over your longer-term goals.
A time-bound goal will usually answer these questions:
  • When?
  • What can I do six months from now?
  • What can I do six weeks from now?
  • What can I do today?
Example about SMART goals:
" get 1000 visitors by the end of March " this goal is:
  • Specific: very clear understandable
  • Measurable: using analytics from google I can see if my visitors are increasing
  • Achievable: This is not a hard goal, I didn't say that's I want to get 10000 visitors, so yes can be Achievable when I publish many articles on social media or some other blogs.
  • Relevant: of-course I am a blogger so my goal is relevant to something I do already.
  • Time-bound: by the end of March.

According to studies, influential people and teachers say that by following this method, you have set a smart goal
SMART Goals can be used in everything we want to be done, We use them to see if we are on the right track, to track the things we're achieving and how far we're achieving them.
In general, humans always set goals, and goals may vary and be big or small.
But no matter how diverse the goals are, people still have the primary motivation, which is a success.
We all want to have the most accomplishments possible, and it all happens when we have goals to strive for.
Not all of the goals we set need to be achievable, even if they are smart, what matters is following up after setting goals and striving for them.

many of you know or listening or read in somewhere about Cavna app and Pexels platform for photo

so what I am trying to teach you here is: How you mix between these two apps & platforms, for your Blogger posts.

You will get after you finish this article:

  • What are stock photos?
  • Good idea about Pexels & Cavna as well.
  • What is allow/not allow for you?
  • What they offer for Bloggers.
  • How to mix and use them in your blog.
  • A way to create a very nice photo for your Blog or Facebook Page, Twitter, Instagram... ETC.

First of all, we need to get knowledge about those apps and make sure that we understand what is the main idea for them,

so we gonna start with quick info about:

Stock Photos:

First of all, let's started with some information about What is Stock Photo?

Stock photos are the term given to all original photos taken by talented photographers and then allow their work to be Re-used by other people.

These images are royalty-free which means that they can be reused or modified in the way you want, such as social media posts or for use in your blog or website.

It’s important to note there is a difference between paid & free stock images.

With paid sites, you aren’t just buying the photos, you are also purchasing the right to use the photo for your materials. Without purchasing these rights, you are committing copyright infringement if you use any of the photos belonging to these companies.

Some of the top paid stock photo sites are:

  • Shutterstock
  • iStock
  • Getty Images
  • Big-stock
  • Super-stock

Photos from paid sites are always circulating on the internet. That’s the main reason why you shouldn’t grab any image you find in a Google image search. Even if Google says those images are tagged for reuse, that’s no guarantee and you shouldn’t rely on it.

That brings us back to free stock image sites like Pexels.

Pexels :

Is a free photo and video website and app that helps designer and blogger and everyone who is looking for visual to find great photo and video that you can download and used for free.

Pexels provides high-quality and completely free stock photos licensed under the Pexels license. All photos are nicely tagged, searchable, and also easy to discover through our discover pages.

Pexels is one of the hundred websites that offer the same things, but Pexels is more simple and easy to use.

What Pexels offer?

hundreds of thousands of free stock photos and everyday new high-resolution photos will be added. All photos are hand-picked from photos uploaded by our users or sourced from free image websites. We make sure all published pictures are high-quality and licensed under the Pexels license.

a very big library reaching with more than what you can imagine of images in different sizes and topic and resolutions.

What is allowed in Pexels?

  •  All photos and videos on Pexels are free to use.
  •  Attribution is not required. Giving credit to the photographer or Pexels is not necessary but always appreciated.
  •  You can modify the photos and videos from Pexels. Be creative and edit them as you like.

What is not allowed in Pexels?

  • Identifiable people may not appear in a bad light or in an offensive way.
  • Don't sell unaltered copies of a photo or video, e.g. as a poster, print, or on a physical product without modifying it first.
  • Don't imply endorsement of your product by people or brands on the imagery.
  • Don't redistribute or sell the photos and videos on other stock photo or wallpaper platforms.

How can you use Pexels for blogger/social media posts?

As we mention before, Pexels offer you tons of images in almost any topic you want a photo for him, you can type in the search bar for what are you looking for and you'll found a hundred results

maybe you can't found anything you want in Pexels but at least you have an option in your hand to can be helpful.

For me, I use Pexels every time I want to make an image for my blogger posts, I go for the platform and searching for something that gives a first look at the same article that I wrote before.

In this case, I want a picture that is expressive and connected at the same time with the topic I am talking about.

So I went to The Platform, and I wrote in the search bar " design " and also I tried " Mix color ".

A lot of results appeared and I chose 3 pictures that I saw as expressive and related to the same topic.

These are the photos that I liked.

After we choosing the photo it's time to move on to the Canva app.

Canva :

Is a graphic design platform, used to create social media graphics presentations, Posters, Documents, and other visual content.

The app includes templates to use, the platform is free to use, and offers paid subscriptions like Canva pro.

What Cavna offer?

  • Millions of images.
  • Photo Filters.
  • Free Icons & Shapes.
  • Hundreds of Fonts.
  • The rarity of content types.
  • pre-sized social media image and header template to marketing materials, document, presentations, invitation, and ads...ETC

you'll find almost everything you need.

If you don't, you can always create a custom project.

Price:

Cavna free platform, you can use every Cavna template for free, the only time you'll need to pay is when you use one or more of the premium images that they sell for the low price of 1$ per image.

Cavna also have Cavna pro which is offering you the things in below

The price for this service is high a little bit, it's around 8$ per month.
in fact, I didn't try it before but what is the most helpful thing in this service is Re-size your design directly, which I needed during my job
without this service, I had to create a new design with the size that's I want.

it's not a big deal because you can go for a new design and copy and paste your previous one.

As a blogger or content creator, how can Pexels & Canva be helpful for you?

finally, we come to the most important point, how can you make these two tools serve your job.

After you finish writing your article.

We go to design an attractive image in simple steps that are represented by the following:

  • Go to Pexels.com and write in the search bar something related to the idea that you previously write about.
  • ( Previously I already put some pictures that I selected. )
  • Download the pictures that you have chosen and no problem if they are a group of pictures. You can choose one or more for a later design.
  • We go to the Canva application if you work on your mobile phone and there is also an application for computers or you can use their website Canva to start designing.
  • We specify the size we want, either directly by searching in the search bar for a specific size, and this does not require you to know the measurements. All you have to do is specify what you want to use the image for, for example, Facebook cover, and the application provides you with the size easily, or by clicking on create a design then click on custom size then choose the width and height.
  • You can choose from a set of templates that the application suggests automatically or search for specific templates such as " food ", and the application will provide you with a wonderful collection of ready templates that you can use.
  • Now you upload the image that you previously downloaded from the Pexels site and drag-and-drop over the template you chose and start deleting the things you do not want and adding other things or even adding another image that you already own.
  • All that's left after these steps are for you to unleash your ideas and keep editing to have a great photo.

At end of all, what I am trying to teach you here is a simple way to get a nice photo, without Exposing your site or blog to copyright strike if you use photos from Google or from anywhere else.

all my article photo it's made by the mix between Pexels & Cavna, you can have a look to see an example for this mix.

Notes can be a challenge! Google keep vs Evernote

In this article we will talk and focusing on " Evernote, google keep " and also Samsung notes as an optional app.

You'll get after finishing this article :

  • Good idea about Google keeps & Evernote.
  • What you can/can't do with them.
  • What are the good/bad things?
  • which is the comfortable one if you work on it.
  • which is the better one for bloggers.

blogger is a way to make the people know about your thinking, is a great way to help other people with something you knew very well and give valuable information or tips or advice.

many bloggers like the old-school way and do the job on papers and notebooks and also many of them they use the app to carry on the job

and for bloggers people, it's very important to use note-app that's offering for them a good space for the job.

there are many and many apps that made this kind of job which is " writing or create notes " more simple and easier because of the great tools that the apps have, such as :

Google keep :

Is a great solution and option for google power users.

They are done to serve a purpose to :

  • Remind email a friend.
  • Help you outline your new book

Or one of million other things, often, this other thing requires you to use some other app or service.

As a note app, It's fine if you use it the way Google intends. There are reasonable web, IOS, and android versions and handy chrome extensions for saving quick notes and links.

With google keep you can do :

  • Create and edit notes.
  • Organize and find notes.
  • Set reminder in-keep.
  • Archive and delete notes.

does google keep is good or not?

I can't say if Google is good or not because every user has his visions and experience. but what I can say is the good/bad thing that's I found.

good :

  • Fast
  • Can extract text from images.
  • Works well with other Google apps.
  • Free.

Bad :

  • Poor at organizing notes.
  • No rich text formatting or markdown support.
  • No desktop apps.
  • Weak web clipper.
  • No access restrictions on shared noted.

What does google keep do well?

  • Capture notes quickly " if something comes to mind, you're never more than a few taps away from writing it down.
  • Recording a voice memo.
  • Snapping a picture.
  • Scanning document.
  • You can also make text notes, lists, reminders, sketches.
  • Add background colure to any note, upload images and files and even extract image text from images, also mark up images.

What missing is :

  • You can't mark up PDFs because they aren't supported for upload in the first place.
  • You can't sort or file notes
  • You can't put them into a particular order, or even filter them by date created, date updated, or title.
  • There is no rich text formatting at all, nor is there support for markdown language-a popular alternative for adding styling to text.
  • You can add checkboxes and paragraph returns, but that's about it.

There's is only one way to categorize notes, and that's to add labels. Labels are essentially tags, and they can be whatever you like.

At any time, you can access your list of labels on a left-side rail.

Click on a label, and only notes with that label appear.

The idea with Google Keep is if you ever need rich text formatting, folders, and other tools for organizing and sorting notes, you'll turn those notes into Google Docs, which you can do easily from Keep. That's all well and good unless you don't want to move between two apps. Some people prefer to stick with one app. Google Keep takes the approach that you use to write down an idea quickly and then move the note to a more appropriate app when you're ready to do more with it. That's entirely doable, but it means that you have chosen two apps for this kind of activity, and you have to set up your workflows, too. Many users will want to have a single productivity app take care of it all for them, though some may enjoy tinkering with their processes.

Google Keep is 100% free—there are no upsells or premium plans—although you need a Google account to use it. There are free apps for Android and Apple mobile devices, plus a web app, but no desktop apps, according to a Google Keep support page. Watch out for knockoff apps on macOS and Windows. We strongly advise against downloading them.

The amount of storage you get for Google Keep depends on your Google Drive storage

price: Free for 15 GB of storage across all google apps; starts at 1.99$/month for 100 GB.

all the prices in below in Malaysian ringgit.

Check this if you want to know more details: Google keep

Google Keep isn't the only free note-taking app. Microsoft OneNote, Joplin, Zoho Notebook," we will talk about them later " and others are free too.

Google keep: available for ( IOS, ANDROID, WEB, CHROME ).

Evernote :

I knew about this app earlier, And in fact, I like it too much and start using it every time I want to write for blogger posts or my notes.

It's impossible to talk about note-taking apps without mentioning " Evernote ",

It's one of the most powerful options.

  • Image.
  • PDF document.
  • Scanned hand-writing page.
  • Slack conversations, emails, websites, and any other thing.

If you already have tags set-up, They'll be auto-suggested.

After you creating note click tags in the sidebar to see a searchable list of every tag you've used.

It's a really fast way to sort notes as you create them without having to worry about putting every note perfectly in its place " you will be able to sort your notes later on and arrange everything nicely.

Evernote automatically processes the image, sheet of paper, business card, menu, sign, or anything you upload.

To make it more readable and also searchable.

So you'll be able to search for it as if it's a text note you typed yourself.

Evernote ability :

  • Share notes and whole notebooks with classmates, coworkers, family...ETC
  • Take and attach pictures to a note right from within the app.
  • Take and attach voice memos and audio right from within the app.

  • Set reminder.
  • Create checkboxes that serve as-virtual to the doc.
  • Scan automatically between all devices, you can access your note even when offline ( not able in free versions ).

does Evernote good or not?

I can't say good or not because first of all, I am a new user of this app, but I can say the good/bad things that are I found :

Good :

  • Effortless note-taking and syncing.
  • Powerful search.
  • Excellent features.
  • Flexible access to your notes.

Bad :

  • The free level of service too restrictive.
  • Expensive Premium plan.

Evernote is available for ( IOS, ANDROID, MAC, WINDOWS, WEB ).

At End of all, We must mention that Evernote has a Free & Paid plan " all the details in below and the price in Malaysian ringgit ".

Check this if you want more details on Evernote.

I would like to mention for Samsung notes at the end of this article, it's kind of something I live with for a long time.

Samsung notes :
I would like to mention about Samsung note is an optional app, is easy to use and access also is good enough for fast notes or something you want to remember later.
Many people know about this app, in fact, no need to talk about it because the app came with any android phone, usually without previous install.
I use this app for a very long time, I am a heavy user of it and I enter and create notes every day twice at least for many years.

with Samsung note you can do:
  • Quick note-taking.
  • Switch between pens, highlighters, and erasers.
  • Customize page template and background color.
  • Convert your handwriting to text.
  • Import an image or PDF.
  • Add voice recording.
  • Sort page.
  • Save in a different file format.
  • Organize your notes.
  • Share files.
If you are a blogger, it's necessary always to remember that's these tools not everything, what is matters is how you use them.
